1960年7月3日、ニューポート ジャズ フェスティバル(ニューポート、ロード アイランド州)でのパフォーマンス中に録音。元々Chess LP 1449 [r=5576730]として1960年11月15日にリリース。
本盤のラベルはGloversville pressing [r=3938682]のラベルと同一で、2トラックがセンタースピンドルホール上部に表示され、音盤著作権(℗)情報がトラックリスト下部にあり、ジャケットには[l=MCA Pressing Plant, Pinckneyville] pressing [r=3121413]と同一のシリーズロゴが付いている。
ランアウトに刻印された"⧈-G-⧈"は[l=MCA Pressing Plant, Gloversville] pressingを表す。
トラック時間はラベルとジャケット裏で異なる。
[a=Pat Hare]は元々のアルバムクレジットでは[a=Tat Harris]として記載されている。
