Early Stereo, Hollywood plant, six-eye pressing. There are several label design variants within the early Columbia six-eye pressings. Some characteristics which, in combination, can help to identify this pressing are as follows: -Within the label's central red area the top line of text is "WHAT IS THERE" -The word "SIDE" has all capital letters -The track listings are center-aligned on both sides -On Side 2 the track 3 credit is "G. Mulligan". The bottom right corner of back cover on this variant has small printer's ID number of "3".

Recorded in New York Dec. 17, 1958 (B3); Dec. 23, 1958 (B1, B2, B4); Jan. 15, 1959 (A1 - A4) Text on back cover lists Gerry Mulligan as the writer of both News from Blueport and Blueport. The label credits (and all online sources I could find) credit News from Blueport to bassist Bill Crow and Blueport to trumpeter Art Farmer.
