Sonero Clasico Del Caribe

El Sonero Clásico del Caribe is a Venezuelan son cubano orchestra founded in 1976 by architect and music producer "El Flaco" Domingo Alvarez. The group made its official debut in 1977 at a lecture-recital titled "Son Montino, Guaguancó and the Salsa Phenomenon" at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Caracas.

The ensemble was assembled from experienced musicians, many of whom had stepped away from music to pursue other professions. Key founding members include percussionist and luthier Carlos Emilio Landaeta, bassist José Castro, vocalist Juan "Johnny" Pérez, guitarist Pedro Aranda, bongosero Pichín León, tres player and vocalist Santiago "Alacrán" Tovar, and lead vocalist José Rosario Soto. The group later featured guest appearances by vocalist Canelita Medina and Cuban-born composer Luis Tata Guerra.

Sonero Clásico del Caribe represents a continuous homage to Cuban son traditions, performed by seasoned musicians who decided to reunite and share their music throughout Venezuela and beyond. Their notable recordings include hits such as "Carmelina," "Qué Extraño es eso," "Sobre una Tumba una Rumba," "Mamá Son de La Loma," "Convergencia," and "Papá Montero." The group has performed alongside Oscar D'León, Rubén Blades, Willie Colón, and other prominent salsa and son artists.
