The "Taylor Custom Select Program" is a semi-custom order system that allows you to easily commission a one-of-a-kind Taylor guitar tailored to your playing style and sound preferences by combining all elements of Taylor's extensive model options, tone woods, body shapes, decorations, and design specifications.
MION is one of only a few shops in Japan recognized by Taylor Japan to have an "Independent Repair Technician" on staff. We have created a dedicated application form for this program and made it available on our website.

Our special order "Custom 312ce Cedar / Mahogany - ES2" commissioned from Taylor's headquarters in America has arrived. This is a one-of-a-kind special specification designed in close consultation between our "Independent Repair Technician" who knows Taylor guitars inside and out and our staff, with the concept of delivering "the finest Taylor available for under 500,000 yen."
■ "Premium specification" sound design based on the 300 Series
After comparing many higher-end models, we chose the 300 Series as the foundation.
Normally this series uses substitute sapele wood to keep costs down, but this time we took advantage of the freedom that comes with custom ordering:
・Rare cedar top from the former 500 Series
・Traditional and richly resonant mahogany (sides & back) were selected.
The softness of cedar allows for deep, warm tones to spread even with soft-touch picking.
■ Deliberately chosen 312 (GC) size
Aiming for easier handling and a rustic, flavorful tone, we chose the 312 (GC) instead of the 314 (GA). This highlights the beautiful mahogany midrange resonance. By incorporating a cutaway, we enhanced high-position playability and comfort in holding the instrument.
■ Finishing and appearance details
The top is finished in gloss, the same as high-end models, which greatly affects tone. The sides, back, and neck are finished in satin. The color is "Natural top / Natural back & sides," the combination that best showcases the wood grain. The headstock veneer and fretboard are ebony, tuners are gold, and we added faux tortoise binding and rosette as an accent, creating an elegant appearance.
■ Reason for "no" pickguard and inlay
By choosing "none" for both, we achieved a simple and refined look. Visibility is ensured with position dots on the side. A faux tortoise pickguard is included loose in the case.
■ "ES2" Pickup → Serving as the ultimate instrument for stage use and line recording
The "ES2," which debuted in 2014, receives fine improvements every year despite no notation, with newer versions continuously updating its tone. The "ES2" just before the transition to the new pickup system "Claria" is truly the culmination of Taylor's expertise.
This is a custom model unique to our shop, which knows Taylor inside and out. We look forward to your trial playing and purchase with warm anticipation.
