First issue, earliest narrow spine version, with the following attributes: Textured, single-pocket sleeve with 'XTC ENGLISH SETTLEMENT' embossed in the green area on front and back; Spine is 4mm wide with white font – 'XTC ENGLISH SETTLEMENT' measuring 48mm across; White illustrations on front and back are flat but sit flush with the textured green area; Labels have just one pressing ring 32mm in diameter. The sleeve art is configured at 90º, so appears to be top-opening. Released with two printed inner sleeves with lyrics, credits and pics. The wide-spine version, which also has no white titles, but with different embossing and pressing rings, is here: [r=4086632]. Printed on the sticker: "2 X 33⅓ RPM LPs pressed on 200G Super-Heavyweight Vinyl. Cut from the original stereo master approved by Andy Partridge." While looking for the (still 'lost in the archives') multi-track tapes to enable Steven Wilson to undertake new stereo and 5.1 surround mixes of the album, the original half-inch master tapes were discovered and used as source masters from which engineer John Dent cut new lacquers for this heavyweight vinyl edition. Made In The E.U. Runouts are etched. 'LOUD' is etched directly under 'Jonz' on all runouts.
