Apple label with "Mfd. by Apple" rim text on the full side of the label. Cover with RIAA Gold Record Award seal. Side 1 is pressed with '60s stampers, which means "I'm Only Sleeping" and "Dr. Robert" are presented in duophonic mixes. Side 2 is pressed with '70s stampers and is in true stereo. The presence of MASTERED BY CAPITOL on Side 2 (not used until 1973) and lack of "All Rights Reserved" (added to the labels in 1975) places this release between '73 and '75. Winchester rifles and 12 on back cover indicate a Winchester pressing.

Toshiba/EMI Japan issued this US release as part of Japan's "Country Flag" obi / EAS re-issue series of the Beatles Japanese LP catalog which began in 1976. This is title n° 23 in the series, with U.S. flag obi. Originally released in US June 1966. Recording notes: -Pressed from a copy of a US master, as identified by the matrix stamp -True stereo on all tracks, including A2 (I'm Only Sleeping), A4 (Dr Robert) and B1 (And Your Bird Can Sing) which have been in fake stereo on most US pressings of this album. Packaging notes: -Front and back covers are from the US design with a gatefold sleeve. -Japan's Apple logo on the front jacket in place of where the Capitol logo would be. No Capitol or EMI logos on the back. -Includes bio-lyric sheet insert (in English & Japanese) -Disc comes with clear rice-paper inner sleeve. -Obi states ¥2,500 Mfd. by Toshiba-EMI Ltd., Japan

1983-'85 Black Capitol rainbow band label with rim text within color band (last issue under orig. cat. number), pressed at Capitol's Jacksonville plant, identified by a "O" in the matrix runout. The label has a dull label finish and has the classic 1" diameter inner-ring notch that surrounds the spindle hole.
Variant details:
-Tracks A2 and A4 in true stereo - Track B1 is in fake stereo! (most stereo pressings all 3 tracks are fake stereo)
-Mastered by Capitol stamped in runout on both sides, one side, or no sides - all have "O" in run-out
-Some pressings are translucent (hold the disc up to a bright light and you can see through it).
-Does not have a factory designator # on the back
-RIAA Gold Record Seal on front cover (all after 1975)
-Jacket is made of poster board, disc comes in clear inner sleeve
