Toshiba/EMI Japan issued this US release as part of Japan's "Country Flag" obi / EAS re-issue series of the Beatles Japanese LP catalog which began in 1976. This is title n° 18 in the series, with U.S. flag obi. Originally released in US July 1964. Comes with obi and lyric sheet. Green Apple label. The inner cover has the titles in English and Japanese. Lyrics are printed in English and Japanese. Recording notes: -Pressed from a copy of a US master, as identified by the matrix stamp -True stereo on all tracks. Packaging notes: -Front and back covers are from the US design but this pressing is in a gatefold sleeve with new artwork for this release. -Apple logo on the front jacket in place of where the Capitol logo would be. -Includes bio-lyric sheet insert (in English & Japanese) -Disc comes with clear rice-paper inner sleeve. Early pressing come in a solid black inner sleeve. -Obi states ¥2,500 -Some copies imported to North America may have come with an "Imported Japan" Capitol-EMI sticker that sealed the outer plastic sleeve From my copy: Variant 4 Side 1 has the 7-ZG stamped and upside down.

Jacksonville re-pressing variant on the 80s rainbow label, with a "0" stamped in the run outs. This version was in production from 1983-1985. This is almost the same as [r=31664741] but this variant has Jay Maynard's 'Jay' etched on one or both runouts. Issued with posterboard jacket. Runouts are etched with ᴍᴀsᴛᴇʀᴇᴅ ʙʏ ᴄᴀᴘɪᴛᴏʟ and '0' stamped. There were 2 80s black Capitol rainbow label-factory variations. The later 1986-87 rainbow label pressing was pressed by Specialty: [r=4482976] and [r=15811563]

80s black rainbow label with silver text in the color band. Issued with posterboard cover. 1986-1987 Runouts are different and does not have "Mastered by Capitol" in the runouts but otherwise similar to SRC [r=4482976]. Runouts are etched with SRC logo stamped. Pressed 1986-87 at Specialty Record Corporation (The large S surrounding R and C stamped in the run-out), also identified by smooth indent/notch approx 3/4" from edge of label and glossy finish. Earlier 80s rainbow label pressings (1983-85) were pressed by Capitol (mainly Jacksonville) with a dull finish and without the smooth indentation, listed here [r=15895474] and [r=31664741].
