Japan re-issued the 10 Beatles UK albums that had been originally issued in mono in the 60s, using the UK mono masters, all pressed on translucent red vinyl, as a limited edition of 10,000 pressings. Each comes with a narrow OBI strip with red disc and "The Beatles Original Mono Record" at the top, and the entire mono series on the back side. Part of Capitol's Limited Edition re-issue series of the UK catalog , issued late 1995, using the same catalog #s as the late 80s vinyl pressings and the CDs that were still on the market at the time. They are mastered from the same digital source tapes as the CD's. All albums in this series up to "Magical Mystery Tour" have the purple Capitol label. The remaining titles are on Apple. Each copy has a black "Limited Edition" sticker on the shrink-wrap. These pressings make a total of 3 variations for each UK title (up to Revolver) that Capitol issued 1987-95. For variation #3: -Catalog # revised to C1 0777 7 46435 1 1, seen on spine, bottom lower back by the Apple logo, and on labels. -Purple Capitol label design with the Parlophone logo on the left side of label above the “1” and “2” and Apple logo on the right. -Capitol oval and Apple logos along the bottom back -UPC on the back is more rectangular shape -Most pressings came with black “Limited Edition” hype sticker on the shrink-wrap with a corresponding catalog number. Released in mono on 180-gram vinyl LPs, newly mastered from the original analogue master tapes and with replicated artwork and packaging. Also included a pamphlet with track listing, album credits, details on the cutting process, and an advertisement for the Cirque du Soleil LOVE show in Las Vegas. Due to deterioration over time, an analogue tape copy was made of the original analogue master tape to cut the album from, as detailed in the included pamphlet: "Working with the master tapes of Please Please Me was challenging, because adhesive used to make the original edits had seeped onto adjacent layers of recording tape. When the master was played, layers of glue and oxide accumulated on the tape machine playback head causing a loss of higher frequencies in the music. Cutting a record is a continuous process so it was not possible to stop in order to clean the tape head. There was also a significant risk of damaging the master tape during playback so it was decided to transfer music tracks individually to create a new analogue cutting master for this release on vinyl."
