PHIL COLLINS
Jim Ladd Hosts Innerview - Phil Collins:
Inner View Records (Series # 24, Show # 10)
Unknown recording date
Original Airdate - Unknown Month/Day 1983
1983 pre-FM Single Vinyl LP
Jim Ladd, who was also the host of the Captured Live! Hosted & Unhosted concert radio program, hosts an interview special focusing on Phil's career and his latest (at that time) album Hello, I Must Be Going! Studio tracks by both Phil and Genesis are mixed in with interview questions and answers. While the copyright on the LP states 1976 as seen in the scans above, this program was definitely produced in late 1982, as Ladd clearly focuses most of his questions on Side One about Phil's second album. (Hello, I Must Be Going! was released on 5 November 1982, therefore, this special could not have been recorded too far prior to that. In addition, Ladd hosted Innerview, an hour-long nationally syndicated interview program, from 1974 until 1984.) Phil is present in the room with Ladd, and the two have a lengthy conversation about the record, with details about several songs revealed. Side Two focuses on Phil's time with Genesis, and includes a detailed explanation about the meaning behind the title of the song Abacab. (As a side note, Jim Ladd served as the inspiration for the 2002 Tom Petty album The Last DJ and its title track, and - like Phil - has a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.)
This exact same show (albeit with slightly different commercial blocks) was originally released in 1982 and can be found on Jim Ladd Hosts Innerview: Phil Collins.
Runouts are etched.
