「Monty's Guitars」 is a high-end pickup brand from London, UK. Founder 「Matt Gleeson」 thoroughly analyzed vintage pickups and reconstructed them for modern players—a tone that brings out the best performance regardless of genre. In addition to meticulous hand-winding of each unit, the lineup includes wiring kits made with premium parts and natural fingerboard care wax.
Fascinated by the high level of technical skill in vintage pickup rewinding/restoration, a service that is said to be extremely rare worldwide, MION is committed to further promoting and selling Monty's products as Japan's first authorized retailer to accept orders and officially sell Monty's pickups.
The 「Retro Wind Telecaster」 set is a model featuring Monty's signature twisted vintage twang tone for Telecaster pickups.
Based on a 1968 Telecaster pickup and perfectly adjusted for modern players, this set is ideal for those seeking classic vintage sound while desiring an easy-to-use, refined tone.
Featuring responsive and lively touch response, it handles a wide range from clean country to classic rock.
The neck pickup is designed with a clear, bell-like tone reminiscent of a Stratocaster neck pickup. It offers a slightly more open sound than the neck pickups of many vintage Telecasters.
The bridge pickup maintains a vintage-style twang feel while having slightly sweetened high frequencies to match. As a result, it achieves a brilliant, articulate, percussive, and harmonically rich sound without the "ice pick tone" (harsh high frequencies) characteristic of Telecasters.
In the middle position combining both pickups, a bright and pleasant balanced sound is produced.
Like other Monty's pickups, only partial wax potting is applied. By deliberately leaving the center of the coil unwaxed, clarity and responsiveness are enhanced.
An ideal fusion of vintage and modern. It features vintage-spec pushback crosswire and four-ply flat work, and the RWRP (reverse wound/reverse polarity) structure of the neck pickup provides hum-cancel effect in the middle position.
