「Eric Daw Custom Guitars (エリック・ドー)」 is a high-end guitar pickup brand meticulously handwound one by one in Idaho Falls, America. We were amazed to discover that new products can deliver the depth and feel that should only be found in vintage guitars from the 1950s or pickups made by the legendary craftsman "Abigail Ibarra" who worked at Fender Custom Shop, and MION has decided to handle Eric Daw products. As the first domestic store to take custom orders and officially sell Eric Daw pickups, we are committed to further promoting and selling Eric Daw products. To allow customers to experience the good old American character without modern seasoning directly from the amp, we have assembled a diverse lineup of pickups.
This is the "Patent Denied Custom Humbucker" that we custom-ordered from the manufacturer. It comes as a set of two humbuckers. This product was completed in 2025.
This pickup features the following specifications:
・Rough-cast Alnico V bar magnets
・Housed beneath black butyl resin bobbins
・Wound with 42 AWG plain enamel-coated magnet wire
・Cover is unplated nickel. It offers extremely high transparency to sound and achieves a more open tone compared to conventional covered pickups.
・Wiring uses vintage-style 2-core braided wire
Eric Daw pickups are carefully crafted using only the finest selected materials to the highest possible standards. They are not produced by trained workers or machines, but are entirely handwound using a direct-drive winding machine that was researched and custom-built based on the winding machines used during the dawn of electric guitar in the 1950s.
As the wire is guided by hand during winding, it creates a coil pattern of "scatter winding (random winding)" that cannot be replicated by machines. This is the secret behind the sound of vintage pickups that are still highly valued today.
We also select and use only the finest American-made Alnico magnets of the highest quality and enamel-coated magnet wire, all sourced locally. The Alnico pole pieces (magnetic poles) are magnetized by hand using a custom-made magnetic charging device. There are no compromises made to reduce costs; our aim is to create completely handmade boutique pickups targeting world-class sound quality.
These pickups are intentionally made slightly microphonic (sound-picking like a microphone), so they are not suitable for high-gain settings. This is a model that values the texture of vintage tone.
