The "Academy" series was newly developed by Taylor as a beginner-friendly and practical full-size guitar so that beginners don't quit playing guitar partway through.
This "Academy 12e" is an electro-acoustic type with a "Grand Concert" shape.
The "GC (Grand Concert)" is the most compact body size among Taylor's standard body shapes.
The maximum feature is the "armrest" designed with playing comfort in mind, which reduces stress when holding the guitar.
Compared to a typical dreadnought, the scale (string length) is 24-7/8 inches (631.8mm), a short-scale specification that makes it easier for beginners to press the strings.
The body top features solid Sitka spruce, while the sides and back use layered sapele. Due to the round-back structure with a curved back, it ensures sufficient volume and acoustic sound for guitars in this class.
Additionally, it features "The Expression System Baby (ES-B)" pickup, allowing you to enjoy high-quality electro-acoustic sound in various environments such as on stage or during recording!
Despite the accessible price point, it achieves excellent tone and playability. The gentle sound from the small body is ideal for finger-picking. From arpeggios to light chord work, it resonates with depth, making it perfect for home recording and intimate singer-songwriter styles.
