Description
James Tyler Studio Elite Hazmat Shmear 2003 #03023
James Tyler (ジェームス・タイラー) is an essential high-end brand when discussing component Strats. It is one of the few manufacturers that possesses a distinctive originality and sound not found in other brands, and is beloved by many musicians for its "Maximum Tone, Maximum Playability."
This time we have received a USA-made, brand standard model "Studio Elite" manufactured in 2003. The weight is 3.56kg.
It features the "Hazmat Shmear" color, which refers to hazardous materials and harmful substances. Due to the nature of the finish, there is considerable individual variation in color and pattern. This example has a dark tone.
As spec sheets and similar documentation are missing, detailed information such as wood materials remains unknown. The fretboard side features the familiar side scallop treatment. The tuning pegs are Sperzels lock type, and the bridge is a Wilkinson model.
The pickups feature an SSH layout with two "DP410 Ver2.2" units and a "Seymour Duncan Trembucker" installed. This is likely because the company was not yet manufacturing its own pickups at this time. Controls include master volume and tone, with a mini switch allowing coil tap on the humbucker, and a mid boost. There are no push/pull or button switches, making for a simple design as befits the Studio Elite.
A dream guitar for guitarists, capable of covering everything from clear, delicate single-coil tones to powerful modern rock sounds. Extremely playable, and while it pairs well with modern high-gain amps, this is a guitar that can actually do much more than you'd imagine.
