Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite Wine Red 2000
Description
Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite Wine Red 2000
The Gibson "Les Paul Studio" is a popular model among a wide range of players as a simple, modern-looking, and reasonably priced instrument that eliminates binding on the body and fingerboard.
The model we have in stock this time is the "Les Paul Studio Lite" from 2000, weighing 4.01kg, in Wine Red color.
The Studio model keeps prices down by eliminating decorative elements like binding and adopting a simple construction. This is the lightweight version that debuted in 1991, characterized by a thinner body depth.
While adopting the traditional Les Paul wood construction of maple top, mahogany back, and mahogany neck, some of the mahogany has been replaced with a lightweight material called chromite. The specifications differ from the early 1990s; earlier models featured ebony fingerboards, but this one has standard rosewood. The absence of satin finish is also characteristic of this period.
A noteworthy point is that the pickups are a combination of what appear to be original humbuckers ("490R / 498T") with the "Gibson USA" logo engraved on the back, outputting the traditional Les Paul sound. The tuning machines are Grover.
While this is a cost-performance model with minimal decoration, it uses standard pickups and hardware. This Studio is lighter than the recent regular lineup Les Paul Standard, and I found it convenient to carry around. It plays well and has good tone.
Given that lightness is its selling point, weighing 4kg, it's not exceptionally light, but thanks to the thinner body depth, it's easy to handle and has a proper Gibson sound. The sound is close to the standard impression of this era—quite nice, actually. Even without considering it "Lite," it's simply a good guitar as a Gibson.
