Gibson Les Paul Custom Ebony 1976
Description
Gibson Les Paul Custom Ebony 1976
The Les Paul Custom, introduced in 1954 as Gibson's flagship model's premium version, in Ebony color with a weight of 4.67kg. Based on the serial number's first two digits being "00", we can definitively confirm this is a 1976 model.
A "pancake body" specification from 1975 onwards, featuring maple sandwiched between mahogany, representing the iconic look of the 1970s. The maple neck, ebony fretboard, and gold hardware showcase the highest-grade specifications that captivate Gibson enthusiasts. Notable features of this era include the Gibson logo lacking a dot on the "i", and the low frets known as "fretless wonder", which is one of the defining characteristics of this period. The tuning pegs bear the "Gibson" marking. Equipped with two original-appearing numbered gold-covered humbuckers.
The Custom with black color and gold hardware combination is known as the "Black Beauty," boasting an overwhelming appearance and aggressive, thick rock-and-roll-oriented sound—the dream instrument for guitarists. Unlike reissues or recently reliced new models, this features genuine aging with real wear, making the scratches and damage authentically realistic. This alone is highly recommendable. It's genuinely cool.
The pots are also from 1976 and appear to be original. Les Paul Customs from this period have a distinctly different tone compared to other years, with a seriously rockin' character. If your budget allows, please don't miss this opportunity and take one of these in hand.
