Description
Gibson Ace Frehley Les Paul Heritage Cherry Sunburst 1997
Ace Frehley (エース・フレーリー), the original lead guitarist of "KISS" and one of the founding members, passed away on October 16, 2025, at the age of 74. He is also known for designing KISS's iconic lightning bolt logo, and his spirit continues to resonate in the hearts of countless musicians today.
We are excited to announce the miraculous arrival of a 1997 Gibson signature model "Gibson Ace Frehley Les Paul"! The weight is 4.56kg.
At that time, a limited edition custom shop version of 300 units was also produced, but this model we have in stock is from the regular line.
Features include Ace's face inlay with face paint on the headstock, lightning bolt fingerboard inlays, signature inlay at the 12th fret, and three DiMarzio pickups—a look that evokes that era.
The guitar features a luxurious flame maple top with mahogany body, mahogany neck, and ebony fingerboard. The neck grip is not too thick but offers good playing feel, with Grover pegs and Tune-o-matic bridge & tailpiece hardware.
The guitar is equipped with three uncovered DiMarzio "DP100 Super Distortion" pickups. The high-output power and sound are quintessential hard rock, with exceptional compatibility with KISS songs.
While the custom shop version has differences in hardware such as metal back plates and truss rod covers, and Parloryd pegs, this regular line model also uses luxurious woods and, combined with its unique appearance, remains a rare Les Paul!
After trying it out, it truly delivers that DiMarzio sound—the tone feels like a middle ground between Gibson and metal-style Ibanez guitars. The ebony fingerboard playability is distinctly Gibson-like, but with a neck that's not too thick, fast passages are easier to play. And the three pickups are strikingly cool! The fingerboard inlays are well-crafted, and the Ace on the headstock is quite charming.
Regarding condition, the bridge has been replaced and there is a dent mark on the back of the 9th fret on the neck, but it does not affect playability. Otherwise, the overall impression is quite clean. Perfect as décor, and considering it can no longer be obtained, this signature model is expected to increase in value going forward. It has exceptional compatibility with Marshall amps, and I found it to be a Les Paul that makes you want to crank up the distortion and play it to the max. Please don't hesitate!!
