G&L S500 Fullerton Natural 1992
Description
G&L S500 Fullerton Natural 1992
G&L was founded in 1972 by Leo Fender, the founder of Fender, together with George Fullerton. Today, production continues at the factory in Fullerton, California, exactly as Leo envisioned. The workshop remains in its original state from the day he passed away, and music lovers from around the world constantly visit.
The model we have in stock this time is a 1992-manufactured S500. The color is Natural, and the weight is approximately 4.41kg.
The serial number "G031308" is engraved on the bridge plate, and the neck pocket bears the inscription "JUL 13 1992". The interior, including the pots, remains original from 1992. The headstock bears the FULLERTON marking, and there is no "GUITARS BY LEO" inscription below the G&L logo.
This S500 is a valuable early example featuring a high-quality ash body in Natural color. It remarkably adopts a 3-point mounting joint with Micro-Tilt mechanism + neck design inherited from 1970s Fender Stratocasters, and features a truss rod protruding from the headstock. (From 1997 onwards, 4-point mounting was used). The hardware is practical and full of originality, and the electronics that produce diverse tonal variations are infused with Leo's philosophy of the time.
It features a maple neck and maple fretboard with 22 frets. Medium jumbo frets, G&L's proprietary bridge, Sperzels locking tuners, and other hardware showing meticulous attention to detail. The original pickups with logo deliver a thick, rock sound impression.
In addition to volume and high-cut tone, low-cut tone, and 5-way selector, switching the onboard mini-switch keeps both front and rear pickups continuously ON. This enables unconventional pickup combinations.
This color and spec are rare for a USA-made S500. It has a quite interesting tone, and the half-tones are particularly nice. This is a model we strongly recommend for both players and collectors.
