Description
Fender Japan Stratocaster Black w/ Monty's Guitars '54 Stratocaster Pickups Set
A Fender Japan-made Stratocaster with significantly upgraded pickups has arrived at our store!
This is a black Stratocaster with Q-series "Made in Japan" marking, manufactured by Fujigen between 1993-1994. Being manufactured in Japan, it maintains stable quality and excellent cost-performance while achieving modern playability suitable for various styles.
It features standard wood materials with a maple neck with a thick grip and a maple 21F fingerboard, with simple 1VOL / 2TONE controls. The rear tone control is non-functional. The pickguard is 1-ply, giving it a look similar to Eric Clapton's beloved "Blackie."
At our store, we have replaced the original pickups with the "Monty's Guitars '54 Stratocaster Pickups Parchment." (Please note that the original pickups are not included.)
"Monty's Guitars" is a high-end pickup brand originating from London, UK. Founder "Matt Gleeson" thoroughly analyzed vintage pickups and reconstructed their tone for modern players, delivering outstanding performance across all genres.
The "'54 Stratocaster Pickup" faithfully reproduces the original set from when Stratocaster pickups were first produced. It has been reborn as a practical, field-ready specification.
Possessing the mid-range character reminiscent of Telecasters common to excellent mid-1950s Strat pickups, it adds the perfect thickness to the quick attack characteristic of maple fingerboards while maintaining clarity and harmonic richness. The thick mid-range provides the power to properly drive the amp when needed, producing a vintage-feeling yet thick and clear drive sound.
Faithful to the original, these pickups use hand-beveled magnets, precisely reproducing the magnet stagger from 1954.
Like vintage Fender pickups, all Monty's Stratocaster pickups employ only "partial potting." This leaves the coil's center section exposed, yielding more responsive tone.
If you're looking for a guitar capturing the tone of the earliest era while finished as a practical, field-ready specification, please choose this one.
