Fender Japan Antigua Stratocaster 2002-2004
Description
Fender Japan Antigua Stratocaster 2002-2004
The unique "Antigua" coloring was born from a manufacturing mistake at Fender. When the body edge was accidentally burned during binding work, this unusual color was created and then utilized as-is. Various models adopted this color in the 1970s and it became popular. Currently, it is used in limited edition models.
We have now received the Japan-exclusive model "Antigua Stratocaster" by Fender Japan. The weight is 3.44kg. The interior of the body and neck bear the markings "ANTI-ST" and "ATG".
This is a Q-serial "Crafted in Japan" Stratocaster manufactured between 2002-2004. Assembled at Dyna Musical Instruments with outsourced manufacturing, it maintains stable quality and high cost-performance while achieving modern playability that adapts to various styles.
Features include a 3-ply "Antigua" finish pickguard matching the body color, bullet rod large headstock with "F" stamped pegs, and other specifications recreating 1970s models. With approximately 400 units produced, this is a rare catalog-exclusive model that seldom appears on the used market. While detailed specifications such as body materials are unknown, the original wiring and pickups are presumably intact.
The coloring may be a matter of personal preference, but I personally find it quite cool. Moreover, since Fender Japan is popular overseas, if you've been looking for one, this is your chance. The included SKB gig bag is also a nice bonus.
