Fender Jaguar 1965 Sunburst #L97145
Description
Fender Jaguar 1965 Sunburst #L97145
The short-scale model "Fender Jaguar," which debuted in 1962, became popular among guitar heroes of the underground music scene as a cutting-edge electric guitar equipped with diverse features, and greatly contributed to the development of surf music, punk music, and alternative music.
This time, we have received a vintage "Fender Jaguar" in sunburst color from 1965! The weight is approximately 3.66kg.
The serial number is "L97145," the neck date is "1AUG65B," a B neck manufactured in August 1965. It features a sunburst-colored alder body with original pickguard, a round-glued rosewood fretboard without binding with Paroloid position markers. A mute mechanism with sponge called "Fender Mute" is also standard equipment between the bridge and rear pickup.
Almost all parts including pickups, pots, capacitors, and hardware were original, but upon arrival, the parts and wiring were in nearly unusable condition, so we performed an overhaul.
We refretted and replaced the nut, replaced the bridge, saddle, and jack with new ones (the bridge is the Fender genuine "005-4460-049"), replaced the volume and tone pots, replaced the front and rear pickup ON/OFF switches, replaced the low-cut switch, and replaced the preset tone ON/OFF switch. The pot for preset tone was cleaned and did not need replacement. Since the pickups themselves remain original, we have repaired this guitar in a way that players will find most satisfying.
Rather than a collector's item, we prioritize bringing vintage guitars into practical play condition at our shop, so it can be used immediately for everyday performance, recording, and stage use.
Following the repair, this Jaguar's sound and playability are in a very user-friendly class. While retaining vintage quality in the tone, every pickup position and preset tone has its uses—very nice. The fact that you don't feel the typical Jaguar awkwardness might be largely due to the brand new frets and the neck's smooth finish from arrival, feeling almost like a recent custom shop relic piece, making it easier to play. The part changes also worked positively overall.
I previously thought of the Jaguar as a guitar that players had to endure the difficulty of using, but with this particular instrument, I don't feel that frustration, and it has a charm that makes you want it when playing—my perspective on the Jaguar has changed dramatically. Good things really are good. We'd like you to try it at the shop, and you can experience the authentic Jaguar sound supported by alternative rock and grunge scene artists. Please take this opportunity.
