Fender 1979 Stratocaster MN Sunburst
Description
Fender 1979 Stratocaster MN Sunburst
A Fender Stratocaster manufactured in 1979 has arrived in stock. The color is Sunburst, and the weight is 4.08kg.
It features an ash body characteristic of this era, with a maple neck and fingerboard. You can see period-specific specifications such as approximately 41mm nut width, large headstock, 2 wing-type string guides, bullet truss rod protruding toward the headstock, 3-point neck joint, and black pickguard.
The large headstock with a gold-trimmed logo shines brightly, with a wide-range tone that covers a broad frequency spectrum—a characteristic of that era! With a weight of 4.08kg, typical of 1970s instruments, this is a Stratocaster that truly captures the spirit of the era.
The neck date stamped on the neck end (guitars from 1972 onwards have an 8-digit number stamped) is "0902 4691".
09 = Stratocaster
02 = Maple fingerboard (Neck code)
46 = Week 46 (Week code)
9 = 1979 (Year code)
1 = Monday (Day of the week code)
The pickups and wiring were thought to be all original, but the pot was defective upon arrival, so we replaced it at our shop. The date code on the replaced pot is 1979 and is included but non-functional. The pickup, thought to be original from 1979, remains as installed. It features a 5-way selector and simple yet refined controls: VOL / TONE / TONE (the rear tone control is non-functional). The unified black-colored parts are also notably rugged.
The frets were worn and difficult to play, so we performed a refret at our shop, finishing it with a feel like a brand new instrument. You can use it without hesitation the moment you pick it up.
This is a sound character completely different from Fender's current offerings—this is a 1970s Strat. It has brightness and glitter with an attacky cutting and crisp single-note picking characteristic of a maple fingerboard, with an overall flashy sound impression.
The texture of the sunburst color evokes the 1970s, and there is the rough, weathered finish alteration characteristic of this era on the lower body and horns. When you touch it, it actually feels quite nice, and personally I like it, but if you're not comfortable with it, please avoid it.
I think it will deliver a straightforward, good tone regardless of any future replacements, and it's quite a recommendable guitar. In recent years, 1970s instruments have increased significantly in price, and more music shops have begun treating them as vintage guitars. You really want to keep a guitar like this and treasure it forever.

【Appearance & Condition】The overall appearance shows vintage-level wear with scratches, dings, and finish deterioration on the body, neck back, and elsewhere. There is paint chipping on the back of the headstock, but this does not affect playability. With the refret, the nut has been replaced and the maple fingerboard has been refinished.
【Truss Rod】Adequate clearance
【Frets】No wear (refretted)
【Neck】Straight
【Nut Width】Approximately 41mm
・If there are any buzzing, dead spots, or other issues that significantly affect playability, we will always note them. If there is no such notation, we judge that there are no problems with the play condition at our shop.
・If there is no specific notation such as "Original" or "Replacement," we do not make definitive statements regarding specifications or condition.
・Regarding the truss rod, from a product protection standpoint, we only check approximately 45 degrees in both the tightening and loosening directions. (If "Adequate clearance" is noted, it indicates 45 degrees of clearance in both directions.)
