Fender 1979 Stratocaster MN Sunburst
Description
Fender 1979 Stratocaster MN Sunburst
A Fender Stratocaster manufactured in 1979 has arrived in stock. The color is Sunburst, and the weight is 4.07kg.
It features an ash body and maple neck and fingerboard, which are characteristic of this era. You can see specifications unique to this period, such as approximately 41mm nut width, large headstock, two wing-type string guides, bullet truss rod protruding toward the headstock, three-point neck joint, and black pickguard.
The neck date stamped on the neck end (guitars from 1972 onwards have 8-digit numbers stamped) is "0902 5195".
09 = Stratocaster
02 = Maple fingerboard (Neck code)
51 = Week 51 (Week code)
9 = 1979 (Year code)
5 = Friday (Day of the week code)
The pickups and wiring appear to be all original, and the pot date is 1980. It's possible it was manufactured in 1979 and completed in 1980.
5-way selector and simple yet refined controls: VOL / TONE / TONE (ineffective on rear). The parts unified in black color are also tough.
The large headstock gleaming with a gold-trimmed logo, wide-range tone covering a broad frequency range characteristic of that era! A Stratocaster that feels of the times with its 4.07kg weight, typical of 1970s instruments. The frets were worn and difficult to play, so we performed a refret at our shop, finishing it to play like a brand new instrument. You can play it hard without any concerns the moment you pick it up.
A completely different sound character from currently sold Fender models—this is a 70s Strat. Bright and glittery, with the attacking cutting characteristic of a maple fingerboard and crisp single-note picking, creating an overall flashy impression of sound.
The texture of the Sunburst color also feels like the 70s, and there is a rough paint deterioration characteristic of this era on the back of the body. When you touch it, it feels quite nice and personally I like it, but please avoid it if you're not comfortable with that.
I think it will deliver a straightforward great sound no matter what replacements are made in the future, and it's a highly recommendable guitar. The prices of 1970s instruments have risen considerably in recent years, and more music shops have started handling them as vintage guitars. You'll want to keep a guitar like this and treasure it forever.
