Duesenberg Starplayer Special Surf Green 2002
Description
Duesenberg Starplayer Special Surf Green 2002
"Duesenberg" is a German brand named after the handmade luxury automobiles "Duesenberg" that symbolized the 1930s. It is beloved by numerous artists including Keith Richards and Shiina Ringo.
We have now received the "Starplayer Special" in Surf Green color, a solid body model version of the flagship "Starplayer" designed for a broader user base. This is a 2002 model with a weight of 4.07kg.
This is an early example from the period before the transition to 4-bolt specifications, featuring a 5-digit serial number. This particular model features 2-bolt and stop tailpiece specifications.
It features a traditional set-neck style single-cutaway design, a distinctive 647.7mm long-scale bolt-on maple neck, alder solid body, and rosewood fingerboard.
Equipped with powerful humbuckers "Grand Vintage" and "CrunchBucker," it features clear and transparent attack in clean tones, drive with a slightly fuzzy resonance, and abundant sustain. Controls consist of a simple configuration of 1 volume, 1 tone, and 3-way selector. While there are no center clicks, the uniquely named "Multi-Tone" provides seamless blending between single and humbucker sounds, offering rich sound variations.
With this tone control, it ranges from sweet humbucker front to pleasantly crisp single tones, offering potential to handle all genres. This seamless transition is quite interesting and feels unique compared to other guitars. Its easy handling and cute color will photograph well on stage.
While the appearance is somewhat similar to Gretsch, it has a completely different sound character, and this model is also excellently crafted. In particular, this model has proper humbucker thickness, and the tone knob transforms it into P90-like tones, making it suitable not only for Tokyo Incidents-style guitar rock and guitar-vocal music genres, but also for lead guitarists. You'll want to own this once you play it.
