VERSOUL Buxom Minor 6 NT CUTAWAY Gold Label 2023 #0612
VERSOUL (Versoul), a completely handmade guitar brand manufactured by "Kari Nieminen" in Helsinki, Finland, where he personally handles every step of the production process. The high-quality materials selected by Nieminen are stocked in a semi-finished state until orders are received, and are seasoned in a workshop with perfect climate control, ensuring ideal production conditions.
In Japan, its reputation has grown through use by Kazutoshi Sakurai of Mr.Children, and it is favored by many artists.
We have just received the small jumbo-sized rounded cutaway model "Buxom Minor 6 NT CUTAWAY Gold Label" from 2023. It was purchased new in May 2024. This is a luxurious "Gold Label" specification with 23-karat gold leaf used on the sound hole, neck side position marks, and throughout. The specifications feature high-purity gold foil.
"Buxom Minor" is Versoul's flagship model featuring the "just right' feel" sound and sustain they advocate, with harmonious appearance and tone.
The body uses cedar top with select Indian rosewood, the traditional choice for body wood. The neck is made of Aspen, a poplar family wood native to Finland. Nieminen believes that aspen wood is very flexible with high rigidity, and when combined with maple, creates an ideal neck piece with superior strength and acoustic characteristics. Traditional X-bracing is employed.
Remarkably, the neck joint is bolt-on. Rather than adhering to traditional methods, Nieminen believes that his unique bolt-on design is structurally superior. The heel-less structure makes high-position playing as easy as on an electric guitar. Additionally, the 13-fret joint is a major feature. This is an excellent design that adds one fret compared to traditional classical guitars, balancing both acoustics and playability.
A 654mm scale is employed, and combined with a shallow head angle design, it ensures exquisite tension balance. The frets use the wide and thick Jim Dunlop 6130. The adoption of this fret, relatively rare on acoustic guitars, reduces the sense of difference when switching from electric guitars.
Reindeer shinbone from Finland, familiar to the local culture, is used for the nut and saddle. Symbolic designs representing the sun and moon are applied to the front and back of the headstock respectively, but this guitar has no design on the body back.
As of 2024, the new price for this model is ¥1,524,600, making it a very high-end instrument. Compared to similarly priced models like "Santa Cruz" or "GOODALL", it shows no inferiority in quality and exterior luxury.
The current string height is set somewhat high, prioritizing the sound of chord strokes. With excellent dynamic range and rich sustain, it delivers supreme sound! An exceptional piece that allows you to enjoy the coveted Versoul sound with its refined European sensibility. You'll want to play "HANABI" with this one.
