The "Taylor Custom Select Program" is a semi-custom system that allows you to easily commission a one-of-a-kind Taylor guitar by combining all elements of Taylor's abundant model options, tone woods, body shapes, decorations, and design specifications, selecting the perfect specs to match your playing style and sound preferences.

The "Custom 312 Cedar / Mahogany - Slotted Head" that we specially ordered from the United States has arrived. This is a world-unique special specification, designed through careful consultation between our "Independent Repair Technician" who knows Taylor guitars inside and out and our staff, with the concept of "the finest Taylor we can offer for under 500,000 yen."
■ "Higher-end specifications" sound design based on the 300 Series
After comparing many higher-end models, we chose the 300 Series as our base.
Normally this series uses sapele wood as a cost-saving substitute, but this time, taking advantage of the freedom that custom ordering provides:
・ Rare cedar top
・ Mahogany from the traditional 500 Series with rich, resonant qualities (sides & back) was selected.
The softness of the cedar allows for a deep, warm tone to spread even with soft-touch picking.
■ The deliberately chosen 312 (GC) size
Rather than the 314 (GA), we selected the 312 (GC) for easier playability and a rustic, flavorful tone. This brings out the beautiful mid-range resonance characteristic of mahogany. Additionally, by eliminating the cutaway, we've secured more internal body space, resulting in both greater volume and resonance.
■ Attention to finish and appearance
The finish is full gloss, the same as on premium models, which greatly affects tone, while the neck features a satin finish. The color is "Natural top / Natural back & sides," a combination that best showcases the grain of the carefully selected woods. The headstock veneer and fretboard are ebony, with black binding and rosette for a traditional appearance.
■ The reason for "no" pickguard and inlays
By choosing "none" for both, we achieve a simple, refined impression. This specification, seen on classical guitars, works beautifully on acoustic guitars as well. Fretboard visibility is maintained with side position dots.
Note: A tortoiseshell-pattern pickguard is included loose in the case.
■ No pickups either → Taylor as a pure acoustic instrument
By not including a pickup, those who associate Taylor with electric-acoustic guitars will be amazed at how the original acoustic character stands out. Particularly the clarity of the high frequencies and the speed of response change, allowing you to fully experience the quality of pure, unplugged tone.
