Martin 00-17 1959
Description
Martin 00-17 1959
Born in 1908, Martin's "00-17" became established as the all-mahogany model known today from the 1930s onward. For its time, it was considered a relatively affordable model within reach of the common people, but it has enjoyed enduring popularity for its ease of playability and sweet tone. In recent years, it has become popular in the vintage market as a value-for-money model featuring a compact all-mahogany body.
The "00-17" we have in stock this time is from 1959.
This model from the 1950s–1960s, considered the golden era, is particularly highly regarded by players. It features a solid, all-mahogany body with simple dot inlays and a 14F joint. No binding. The fingerboard is Brazilian rosewood (Jacaranda) with a 628mm scale length and approximately 41.3mm nut width. The appropriately thick soft V-shape neck is also superb.
The cute appearance with satin-finished natural brown color and tortoiseshell pickguard has transformed into a dignified look through aging, giving it wonderful character.
With its all-mahogany construction, it features warm midtones and soft treble with a solid ring, making it suited to fingerpicking, blues, and folk styles with delicate nuance. It possesses the rich, matured resonance that only vintage instruments can offer.
While some parts such as frets appear to have been replaced, we ask for your understanding that it is difficult to make definitive statements. With its very good woody sound, this is a vintage Martin that we'd like you to experience—a must-try for those looking for a compact all-mahogany acoustic guitar.
