Gibson J-45 ADJ 1970-1972
Description
Gibson J-45 ADJ 1970-1972
Since its debut in 1942, the Gibson "J-45" has supported players worldwide for 80 years. It is the representative model of Gibson acoustics, loved across time.
This time, a rare early 1970s "J-45" has arrived. The serial number is "950623".
From the latter half of 1969, the traditional Round Shoulder shape was changed to a Square Shoulder. This "J-45" has the engraving "MADE IN USA" below the serial number, indicating it was manufactured after 1970.
Other characteristics of this guitar include an adjustable saddle, small pickguard, thick neck, and a truss rod cover with "J-45" marking.
The pegs have been changed from original to Schaller, and the originals are missing. For players seeking stable tuning, this is a practical modification. The action is standard and presents no particular difficulty in playability; it should be usable without stress in its current condition.
It goes without saying that the tone differs significantly from current models, but early 1970s "J-45" guitars often have different specifications from one to another, resulting in clear differences in sound. This one has a very high possibility of being manufactured around 1970-1971. Being a transitional period, preferences vary from person to person, but for those who struggle with narrow necks, this is perfect—it produces solid, firm, pleasant high notes. During chord strokes with a pick, it produces a very nice tone. Considering the wear and scratches, I thought it would be quite cool to play one that has been used like this.
