Gibson Hummingbird 1973-1975 #A006221
Description
Gibson Hummingbird 1973-1975 #A006221
An acoustic model that boasts unwavering popularity among Gibson square shoulder models, the "Hummingbird." This guitar is characterized by its elegant looks, featuring a 3-pointed pickguard with a hummingbird illustration and parallelogram inlays that shimmer on the fingerboard, and is widely known through its use by Keith Richards. Originally designed as an accompaniment for singing, the Hummingbird is characterized by its sweet, soft sound, commonly called "honey tone."
This time, we have received a Hummingbird manufactured between 1973 and 1975 with the "A +6-digit serial" marking.
The combination of a spruce top with mahogany sides and back is a classic Gibson pairing. No pickup is installed, allowing you to enjoy a pure, warm tonal quality.
The double X bracing structure characteristic of 1970s Gibsons, ornate gold headstock inlay and Grover pegs, and small block inlays all contribute to its striking appearance.
This guitar arrived with a broken neck, so it has undergone a full repair and adjustment by a Taylor Independent Repairman (Taylor officially certified) on our staff. The neck break has been repaired, the frets have been replaced, the nut has been replaced with a new one, and the pickguard has been adjusted with string action and tone also fine-tuned. This is the finest condition, where a player experiences brand-new playability from the moment they pick up the guitar.
There are differing opinions about 1970s bracing structures, but once you actually play it, this Hummingbird has been reborn to perform at the highest level in both sound and appearance! The label is missing on this one, but since there is a serial number stamped on the back of the headstock, there are no particular issues. With the refretted fretboard, it is genuinely easy to play and ready for heavy use going forward.
When it comes to Hummingbirds, recently they are also loved by cute singer-songwriters like Koresawa, and they excel at fingerstyle accompaniment! Given that it has been 50 years since manufacture, the body's exquisitely aged coloring is truly impressive. It will work perfectly for recording chord strokes.
The back of the neck shows some cosmetic marks, but we have addressed this, so the feel is smooth and will not interfere with your playing. With low string action and excellent playability and tone, this vintage acoustic is recommended for those seeking a quality used instrument!
